Chief Ugochukwu Obiefuna, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has described the Supreme Court judgment confirming Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the authentic National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a landmark ruling that permanently puts to bed the party’s prolonged leadership crisis.
Speaking exclusively to NewdayReporters on Wednesday morning in Awka, Chief Obiefuna expressed optimism that the verdict would reposition APGA for sustainable growth. He highlighted how internal leadership struggles, dating back to 2003, had stunted the party’s political potential.
“The Supreme Court judgment has put an end to the protracted legal and leadership battles that have hindered APGA’s progress for over two decades. With Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa at the helm, the party is now poised to achieve its full political destiny,” Obiefuna said.
It can be recalled that in an earlier interview with NewdayReporters, Chief Obiefuna had dismissed the leadership claims of Edozie Njoku as an “effort in futility,” maintaining that there was no legal basis for his purported position as National Chairman. He also criticized what he described as the “democratic heist” of Njoku’s alleged recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The Supreme Court has restored public faith in the rule of law by affirming the legitimate leadership of APGA under Barr. Ezeokenwa and his National Working Committee. It is now clear that impostors have no place in the party’s future,” Obiefuna asserted.
The Deputy Chief of Staff commended Barr. Ezeokenwa’s emergence as a unifying leader, noting that his victory signifies the dawn of a new era for APGA. He emphasized that the judgment not only resolves the internal crisis but also sets a clear path for the party’s growth, devoid of distractions from political impostors.
Obiefuna concluded by urging APGA stakeholders and members to rally behind Ezeokenwa’s leadership to strengthen the party’s position as a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
