‘The Storm Is Over,’ APGA National Chairman Ezeokenwa Hails Supreme Court For Permanently Ending APGA Leadership Crisis

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has commended the Supreme Court’s decision affirming him as the legitimate leader of the party.

The ruling, delivered on Wednesday by a five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Stephen Adah, dismissed claims by Edozie Njoku, who had been parading himself as the party’s national chairman.

In its unanimous judgment, the court strongly criticized those it referred to as “desperate politicians” attempting to destabilize political parties and the nation’s democratic process.

Reacting to the ruling during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ezeokenwa expressed relief and optimism, declaring that the party’s internal disputes had finally been resolved. “The storm is over,” he stated emphatically, celebrating the verdict as a victory for unity and stability within APGA.

Ezeokenwa described the party as an “indivisible and united family” and emphasized the importance of reconciliation among members. He urged party stakeholders to set aside past differences and focus on strengthening APGA for future challenges. “We have decided to close ranks,” he said, reaffirming the party’s commitment to collective progress.

During the interview, Ezeokenwa also addressed questions about Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of APGA’s founder and former Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Despite her recent appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Ezeokenwa clarified that Bianca remains an active member of APGA.

He explained that the party had granted her permission to accept the ministerial appointment as part of its broader strategy to contribute to national governance. “She is a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party to date, and she has not resigned her membership,” he affirmed.

Ezeokenwa lauded Bianca’s appointment, describing it as a strategic move that underscores APGA’s readiness to support an inclusive government. “This appointment is a plus for our party,” he remarked. He noted that her position in the federal cabinet demonstrates APGA’s capacity to produce technocrats capable of contributing to national development.

The APGA leader also revealed that he had personally reached out to President Tinubu to commend the decision to appoint Bianca Ojukwu. He urged the president to foster a spirit of national unity and inclusivity, pointing out that competent individuals across different political parties and professional sectors have much to offer in driving Nigeria’s progress.

“Now that the Supreme Court has affirmed the president’s election, it is time to close ranks,” Ezeokenwa said, highlighting the need for collaboration between political parties to achieve the president’s manifesto and address the nation’s pressing challenges.

Ezeokenwa concluded by reaffirming APGA’s readiness to partner with the government for the betterment of Nigeria. He stated that the party remains committed to its founding ideals of justice, equity, and grassroots empowerment while working to strengthen its position as a formidable opposition force in the country’s political landscape.
