Come Back, Rescue Us From Suffering And Hardship – Nigerians Beg Goodluck Jonathan

Amidst the severe economic challenges and widespread hunger many Nigerians face under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, some citizens have turned to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, urging him to consider a political comeback to alleviate their suffering.

They are calling on Jonathan to follow the example of the recently elected U.S. President, Donald Trump, by mounting a return to the presidency in 2027.

This plea comes after Trump, who previously served as President of the United States from 2016 to 2020, achieved a historic comeback by winning the latest U.S. presidential election.

He defeated Kamala Harris, the sitting Vice President and Democratic candidate, marking one of the most notable political returns in American history. His victory has inspired some Nigerians to hope for a similar scenario in Nigeria, with Jonathan as the potential candidate to “rescue” the country.

Reacting to Trump’s victory, Goodluck Jonathan posted a congratulatory message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he praised the U.S. election results. He wrote:

“Dear President Trump, I extend my warmest felicitations to you on your election as the 47th President of the United States. Your impressive victory is a testament to the American people’s faith in your leadership and vision for the future. I am optimistic that your presidency will not only advance the American dream but also promote the cause for global peace, stability, and progress. Please accept my heartfelt congratulations once again.”

Following his post, a surge of Nigerian commenters appeared in his replies, urging him to run for president once again. They expressed hopes that Jonathan, who lost his re-election bid in 2015, might return to power to address the economic crisis and improve conditions for struggling citizens.

Many view him as a potential leader to reverse the hardship currently affecting the country.
