BREAKING: Rodri Wins Ballon d’Or, Becomes First Winner From EPL In 16 Years

Manchester City’s Rodri Hernandez has been awarded the prestigious 2024 men’s Ballon d’Or, making history as the first player from the English Premier League to win the award since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder claimed his first-ever Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, triumphing over Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal.

Rodri has been essential to Manchester City’s success, contributing significantly to their fourth consecutive Premier League title and FA Cup victory. Known for his skillful play in a deep-lying midfield role, he holds an impressive record of 74 consecutive games without a loss. Additionally, Rodri played a pivotal role in Spain’s success at the 2024 European Championships, where he was honored as the tournament’s best player.

Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman also made an impressive showing, ranking 14th in the men’s Ballon d’Or standings.The 2024 Ballon d’Or Femeni went to Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati, marking her second consecutive win and solidifying her position among the top women players globally.

The Kopa Trophy for the best under-21 player was awarded to Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old sensation who surpassed fellow nominees Arda Guler and Pau Curbasi to claim the honor.

In the category for best goalkeeper, Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez took home the Yashin Trophy, also finishing 18th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Best Men’s Coach: Carlo Ancelotti was recognized for his achievements in men’s football.

Best Women’s Coach: Emma Hayes was honored for her outstanding contribution to women’s football.

Best Men’s Club: Real Madrid was named the top men’s club.

Women’s Club of the Year: Barcelona Femeni received the top club honor in women’s football.

Socrates Trophy: Jennifer Hermoso was awarded this trophy, recognizing her social contributions.
