A video has surfaced online, capturing a disturbing confrontation involving a man believed to be Alex Ikwechegh, a Nigerian House of Representatives member from Abia State. In the video, the lawmaker is seen berating and issuing threats against a Bolt driver in Abuja, sparking widespread outrage on social media and calls for accountability regarding officials’ behavior.
The footage reveals a tense exchange where Ikwechegh appears to question the driver’s respect, allegedly saying, “Do you know where you are? Do you know who I am?” The Bolt driver responds by asserting his sole interest is to be paid, saying, “I don’t want to know, just pay me and let me go.”
As the argument intensified, the driver insisted on receiving payment for his service, stating, “I did a job for you, and you have to pay me, sir.” In response, Ikwechegh reportedly refused, accusing the driver of “great disrespect” and allegedly calling him “very, very stupid.”

In a related incident, the Abuja Police Command has opened an investigation into an alleged assault involving a Bolt driver and a passenger in the Galadima area on October 24, 2024.
According to a statement released on Sunday, police responded to a distress call, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Galadima, to defuse the situation. The passenger, identified as Brandy Nwatu, was taken into custody, while the driver, Emmanuel Ebhohimen, was provided with medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi.
The statement noted that preliminary findings suggest the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over luggage handling, which escalated into a physical conflict, leaving the driver injured. Nwatu has since been released on bail but is required to report for further action on October 28, 2024.
The FCT Police Command expressed gratitude to the public for swiftly reporting the incident, which allowed officers to respond promptly and de-escalate the situation.
