BREAKING: 23-Year-Old Girl Found Dead In Asaba After Visiting Male Friend She Met On A Dating Site

The lifeless body of 23-year-old Miss Precious Yusuf was discovered along DLA Road, directly opposite the Falcon Club in Asaba, Delta State, after she reportedly visited a man she met on a dating website.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed this tragic incident in a statement released on Saturday, indicating that the body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.

In the statement, Edafe expressed condolences to the family of Miss Yusuf, stating, “The Delta State Police Command extends its sympathies to the family of one Miss Precious Yusuf, female, aged 23 years, whose body was found along DLA Road opposite Falcon Club.”

According to the police report, on October 24, 2024, at approximately 8:40 AM, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division Asaba received an urgent call regarding the discovery of a young woman’s corpse at the specified location. The DPO, CSP Rex Abiodun, quickly mobilized police officers to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on October 22, 2024, Miss Yusuf had informed a friend that she was going to visit a male acquaintance she had met on the iHappy dating website.

She left her home on that date to meet the young man in a place known as Coka. On October 23, at around 7:30 AM, she contacted her friend, indicating that she was on her way home. Unfortunately, that was the last communication she had before her body was discovered the following day.

The corpse has since been taken to the mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy. The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has assured the public and particularly the family of the deceased that an investigation is underway and emphasized the commitment to ensuring justice in this case.

Furthermore, the Commissioner urged young women to be cautious about the acquaintances they choose to socialize with, especially those they meet on dating platforms and social media, encouraging them to exercise discretion for their safety.
