BREAKING: CAF Punishes Libya For Super Eagles’ Airport Ordeal, Awards Three Points To Nigeria, Fines Libyan FA 50, OOO US Dollars

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded Nigeria’s Super Eagles three points and imposed a $50,000 fine on the Libya Football Federation due to issues surrounding the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match between Nigeria and Libya.

This decision was detailed in an official statement from CAF, signed by Ousmane Kane, the Chairperson of the CAF Disciplinary Board.

The statement outlined the reasons for the ruling, citing specific violations of CAF’s regulatory framework by the Libyan team.

According to CAF, Libya breached Article 31 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations and Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

As a result of these infractions, CAF declared that the match between Libya and Nigeria, originally scheduled for October 15, 2024, in Benghazi, would be forfeited by Libya.

The ruling awards a 3-0 victory to Nigeria, adding three points to the Super Eagles’ standing in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
