A controversial social media celebrity known as VeryDarkMan has recently launched a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) aimed at community development and improving public schools. He made the announcement in a post accompanied by a video on his Instagram account, @verydarkblackman, on Saturday.
In the post, VeryDarkMan called for support, pledging transparency and accountability in the management of the funds raised for the NGO.
In his message, VeryDarkMan mentioned notable individuals, such as music superstar Davido and nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, both of whom had previously offered him assistance. He took this opportunity to request their support for his initiative.
Additionally, he reached out to his followers, inviting them to contribute, regardless of the amount, and reassured them that every donation would be fully accounted for. He promised to publicly share the details of the funds raised so that everyone could track the contributions.
“I will be very transparent,” he wrote. “I will post the money that was contributed online for everyone to see, and I will carry everyone along. Every money will be well accounted for. If you believe this will bring change, please support it. No amount is too small; even 5 naira is welcome.”
In an update shared on his Instagram page the following day, VeryDarkMan revealed that his NGO had already received over N33 million in donations within just 24 hours of his announcement. He posted a screenshot showing the total contributions and expressed his deep gratitude to the donors. He noted that the majority of the donations came from individuals who contributed N500 or less, highlighting their willingness to support the cause despite financial difficulties.
“Barely 24 hours since I announced my NGO, if I tell you how much is in that account now, you would not believe it,” he said. “First of all, shout out to all the people who have sent money, shout out to the people sending money. God will bless you.”
VeryDarkMan was particularly touched by the contributions of small amounts such as N72, N100, N22, N50, and N500, emphasizing that these donations showed a great deal of love and support from people who might not have much to give but still wanted to contribute to the cause.
The activist’s recent NGO launch comes on the heels of a controversy involving a popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky. The two were involved in a public dispute over allegations of bribery and corruption, which drew significant attention on social media.
