The CEO of Stelconic Properties Limited, Chief Sir Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, has called on the Anambra State government to ensure that all children are removed from the streets and returned to school. He praised the governor’s free education policy, emphasizing that it leaves no room for parents or guardians to neglect their children’s education.
Speaking with NewdayReporters on Friday, Chief Orjiakor, a former Deputy Chairman of Awka South Local Government, commended the initiative, describing it as a well-conceived plan that offers a golden opportunity for every child in Anambra State to receive an education, regardless of their parents’ or guardians’ financial standing.
“I must applaud the Governor for this thoughtfully designed free education policy, which ensures that every child, no matter the economic situation or social class of their family, has the opportunity to attend school,” Chief Orjiakor said.
“This policy is a lifeline for the underprivileged and could not have come at a more critical time, considering the economic hardships many families are currently facing. With so many struggling just to put food on the table, this initiative is a significant relief, and I heavily commend the Governor for it.”
However, Chief Orjiakor stressed that the government must now take responsibility for enforcing this policy by ensuring that no child is found on the streets during school hours. “The government must step up to make sure that this policy is fully realized by ensuring that every Anambra child is in the classroom. This is essential to give real meaning to such a populist initiative.”
He also praised the governor’s employment of over 8,000 teachers, which ensures that as students return to school, there will be enough educators to provide quality instruction.
“The governor is making all the right moves, and I encourage him to stay focused and finish his first term strongly,” Chief Orjiakor added.
In addition, Chief Orjiakor urged the governor to expedite work on the ongoing Awka to Isuaniocha road project. He called for the extension of the road to connect with the Awka South Local Government headquarters, which would provide easier access to the area.
