NYSC: Corps Members To Repeat Service Year For Ghosting PPA

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) announced on Thursday that four corps members who abandoned their duty posts will be required to repeat their service year. This information was disclosed by the Gombe State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Chinwe Nwachuku, during the Passing-Out Parade for the 2023 Batch “C” Stream I corps members.

Mrs. Nwachuku also mentioned that the service year of three other corps members would be extended due to various offences. She explained that the affected corps members were penalized after appearing before the Corps Disciplinary Committee, which determined the appropriate disciplinary actions.

Out of the 1,210 corps members who completed their service in Gombe State, 662 were male, and 548 were female. Congratulating the outgoing corps members, Mrs. Nwachuku encouraged them to utilize the skills and training they had acquired during their service year to become self-reliant and successful in their future endeavors.

“As you embark on the next phase of your life, I urge you to apply the training, skills, education, and knowledge you gained during your service year,” she said. “The experiences you have gathered should be put to use whether you choose to further your education, pursue a career, or start your own business.”

She expressed confidence that the outgoing corps members would make a positive impact in their chosen fields and highlighted the importance of the cultural exposure they had gained during their time in Gombe State.

She emphasized that their interaction with the customs and traditions of the local people would contribute to fostering national integration and unity, which are key to Nigeria’s progress.

“I trust that the valuable lessons you have learned here will contribute to the national rebirth that Nigeria so desperately needs,” Mrs. Nwachuku added.
