Abdulmumuni Abiola, one of the sons of the late Nigerian business tycoon Chief MKO Abiola, has disclosed that his father left £650,000 in his will for his first four wives.
During a television programme hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, a copy of the will was displayed, revealing the distribution of the funds. Abiola’s first wife, Simbiat, was allocated £300,000, the second wife, Kudirat, received £150,000, the third wife, Moriamo, was given £100,000, and the fourth wife, Idiat, was also bequeathed £100,000.
Abdulmumuni, speaking on the programme “Mic On Podcast” on Saturday, criticized his older brother, Kola Abiola, for allegedly withholding their rightful inheritance. He accused Kola of not distributing the funds as stipulated in their late father’s will. He mentioned that a series of blood tests had been conducted to determine the legitimate heirs of Chief Abiola entitled to the inheritance.
In Abdulmumuni’s account, he explained, “To give you some context, we conducted blood tests to identify the qualifying children. The will is very systematic, listing the wives and the specific amounts allocated to them. My mother, Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, was the second wife and was apportioned £150,000.”
However, Kola reportedly claimed that because Abdulmumuni’s mother, Kudirat, passed away before Chief Abiola, British law prevented him from releasing the £150,000 to Kudirat’s children. Kola also alleged that he did not receive the £300,000 meant for his own mother, Simbiat, since she too had passed away before Chief Abiola.
Abdulmumuni found this reasoning questionable, arguing that as the one in charge of distributing the estate, Kola could have provided the funds if he had chosen to.
Abdulmumuni also recalled the financial difficulties that he and his siblings from Kudirat’s lineage faced after the death of their parents, stating that the inheritance would have significantly helped them. He further accused Kola of selling their mother’s apartment in the UK without informing her children.
He described these actions as part of a deliberate effort to impoverish Kudirat’s side of the family, and because of this, Abdulmumuni expressed that he could never forgive his brother Kola.
