The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has urged all Council Chairmanship and Ward Councillorship candidates running under APGA to closely engage with the electorate, prioritize their needs, and work towards winning their hearts.
Speaking during the Mega Flag-Off for APGA’s campaign ahead of the September 28th Local Government Elections in Anambra State, Ezeokenwa emphasized that the elections are not merely about seizing power but about ensuring the happiness and well-being of the people of Anambra.
In his address, the dynamic and youthful National Chairman encouraged the candidates to redefine leadership through their actions, not just seek office. “These elections are not about grabbing power,” Ezeokenwa said. “They are about serving with integrity and creating a future where the people can have faith in their leaders. We are here to show Anambra and Nigeria that politics can still be a noble pursuit, one rooted in service to the people, not personal ambition.”
He reminded the candidates that true leadership is not about holding titles or occupying positions, but about taking action and being responsible. “You must engage with the people, listen to their concerns, and make sure your leadership reflects their aspirations,” Ezeokenwa emphasized.
He further stressed that APGA is not just a political party but a movement born from the struggle for the people’s welfare. The party’s core mission is to serve and to connect deeply with the needs and dreams of the grassroots. “We are not here for hollow victories,” he declared. “We are here to make sure the people of Anambra experience the real impact of leadership in their everyday lives.”
Barr. Ezeokenwa appears poised to drive a local revolution by leading APGA to a resounding victory, which he described as a victory rooted in service, not the mere acquisition of power.
Addressing the candidates directly, Ezeokenwa said, “Each of you carries the flame of APGA’s vision. Your duty is not just to win elections, but to win the hearts of the people. We are the party of the people, and in these local government elections, we must prove that with every action and every promise fulfilled.”
During the event, party flags were ceremonially handed over to the Chairmanship candidates representing the 21 Local Government Areas in the state. Among the notable recipients were Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike (Aguata), Hon. Anthony Nwora (Onitsha North), Hon. Franklin Nwadialo (Ogbaru), Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi (Idemmili South), Engr. Ezeokenwa concluded by urging all candidates to embody APGA’s commitment to rebuilding Anambra through strong local governance and people-centered policies and initiatives. He challenged them to represent a new era of leadership filled with fresh ideas and hope, and to carry forward APGA’s vision for a better future for both Anambra and every Nigerian.
