The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 2,615 Batch B (Stream II) corps members to rural communities across Kaduna State following the successful completion of their 21-day orientation program. The deployment was officially announced during a closing ceremony held on Tuesday at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp at Government College, Kaduna.
At the event, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, extended his congratulations to the corps members for completing their orientation. In his speech, delivered on his behalf by Hajiya Rabi Salizu, the state’s Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, the governor urged the corps members to approach their assignments with openness and enthusiasm.
“I encourage you to accept your postings in good faith, settle down swiftly, and be mindful of the customs and traditions of your host communities,” said the governor. He further stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of dedication, professionalism, and a strong spirit of service as they embark on their primary assignments in the state.
Governor Uba Sani reassured the corps members that the Kaduna State government would provide the necessary support to ensure that their service year is both productive and fulfilling. He underlined the critical role the corps members would play in fostering national unity and contributing to the state’s development.
“Your contribution is essential in promoting national unity and fostering development in the state. Rest assured, the government is fully committed to providing all the support you need to make your service year both rewarding and impactful,” the governor added.
Earlier in the ceremony, NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Mr. Hassan Mahmud Taura, praised the corps members for their exemplary performance during the orientation course. He urged them to remain committed and actively engage in community development projects that would benefit their host communities.”
I encourage you to take part in Community Development Service (CDS) projects that can positively impact the lives of people in your host communities. Also, build on the knowledge you gained from the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training during orientation,” Taura said.
He also reminded the corps members of the importance of maintaining ethical standards and avoiding social vices such as corruption, nepotism, tribalism, and religious intolerance. According to him, the service year is not only a time for personal growth but also an opportunity to contribute to the progress and unity of the nation.
“Your service to the nation goes beyond your personal development. It is about making a meaningful contribution to the development of our great country,” Taura emphasized.
As the ceremony concluded, the corps members prepared to move into the next phase of their NYSC journey, which includes their primary assignments in various sectors, participation in community development services, and ultimately their passing-out parade in approximately 10 months.
According to reports, the state government has reiterated its commitment to providing the necessary resources and support to ensure that the corps members’ time in Kaduna State is a success.
