We Increased Boarding Fees From N35,000 To N100,000 So Student’s Can Eat Good Food, Bigger Meat – Lagos State Government Explains

The Lagos State Government has announced an increase in boarding fees for its model colleges, citing the need to ensure better welfare for students.

According to Lawal, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the current N35,000 boarding fee, which has been in place since 2021, is no longer realistic in 2024 ¹.

As of the 2024/2025 session, the new boarding fee will be N100,000 per term, starting from September 15, 2024 ¹ ² ³. This decision was made to provide nutritious food, adequate security, and other essential services for the students.

The government stressed that it prioritizes the students’ welfare and well-being, acknowledging that the decision may not be popular with all parents ¹.
