Lagos State Governor Tells Civil Servants To Work From Home Over Fresh Hike In Fuel Price, Increase In Transport Fares

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved an extension of the state’s remote work policy in an effort to alleviate the impact of the removal of the fuel subsidy.

This policy, which was originally introduced on February 28, allows employees on grade levels 01 to 14 to work from home two days per week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 are permitted one remote workday each week.

The extension, effective from September 4, was outlined in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, and reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the policy has significantly boosted productivity across various ministries, departments, and agencies within the state government.

On Tuesday, NewdayReporters revealed that petrol stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) had raised the price of petrol to over N850 per litre nationwide. This price hike follows a directive from NNPC management, which mandated an immediate increase in the price of fuel from N568 to N855 per litre.
