At a recent gathering captured in a viral video, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, emphasized the need for divine intervention to address Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges.
Pastor Adeboye asserted that the issues facing the country have surpassed the capacity of human efforts alone and require urgent spiritual solutions.
In his address, Pastor Adeboye stated, “It has become clear that the problems our nation is grappling with go beyond the political realm. We need a spiritual solution for our nation’s suffering. Despite being blessed with intelligent people and abundant resources, we face numerous challenges. It’s not that those in positions of authority are not trying their best; they are doing as much as humanly possible.”
Pastor Adeboye’s remarks have sparked significant backlash on X (formerly Twitter), with many Nigerians expressing their frustration. Some users criticized the pastor, pointing out what they perceive as inconsistencies in his stance.
For example, one user, Mazi Olisaemeka accused Pastor Adeboye of protesting against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said, “This man held placards to protest during Jonathan’s administration. Now, suddenly, Nigeria’s problems are beyond politics? It’s laughable. I’m trying hard to hold back what’s on my mind this morning. Those who know me understand my thoughts about this man and his church.”
However, NewdayReporters could not independently verify these allegations, and several users on X debunked them. A user, Fola, clarified, “Adeboye didn’t protest under Jonathan; it was under Buhari.
Repeating a lie doesn’t make it the truth! I might not agree with his views on many matters, but I will always stand against spreading false information.”
Another user, Jaywon, added, “I don’t get their logic… What’s spiritual about our leaders being greedy and selfish? Our leaders are the main problem, followed by our passive citizenry.”
