Chief Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, the MD/CEO of Stelconic Properties Limited, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s new agricultural initiative, which aims to provide affordable food for the people of Anambra through an agricultural revolution.
Speaking to NewdayReporters on Tuesday, Chief Orjiakor described ‘Operation Farm to Feed’ as timely, especially given the current nationwide protests about food inflation and the hunger crisis.
In his interview with NewdayReporters, Orjiakor stated, “The Governor’s ‘Operation Farm to Feed’ is, in my view, a critical poverty alleviation program. Similar to the ‘distribution of economic tree seedlings’ to households, it offers hope for a revival of mass agriculture and food security.
“The ‘Operation Farm to Feed’ initiative will alleviate hunger and promote self-sufficiency. At a time when Nigeria is grappling with food insecurity, hunger, and food price inflation, Governor Soludo’s groundbreaking ‘Operation Farm to Feed’ program has become a beacon of hope. And very importantly, it presents a potential model for other states and the Nigerian government to emulate in addressing the hunger problem.
“So, this is, in my opinion, an innovative approach from the governor to address hunger in Nigeria, offering a solution that has the potential to feed the people and make a significant impact,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that since August 1st, many Nigerians have been protesting against hunger, food inflation, and economic deterioration. Although the President’s speech on Sunday promised a brighter future, it remains to be seen what immediate steps the government will take to get the protesting Nigerians off the streets.
