‘Tinubu Will Create 500,000 Jobs’ – Steel Minister, Audu Begs Nigerians To Stop Protesting
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has urged Nigerians to halt the ongoing nationwide protests against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement released on Friday in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media, Lizzy Okoji, Audu appealed to protesters to suspend their demonstrations and instead engage in dialogue to address their concerns and expectations from the government.
Audu assured Nigerians that President Tinubu is working diligently to address the current economic challenges facing the country.
He highlighted several achievements of the administration, including the recent implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage, the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to reduce transportation costs, and the disbursement of N50,000 uplift grants to over 100,000 families per state for three months.
The Minister also mentioned that the government is taking steps to address food prices, including the importation of wheat and maize, and strengthening the health sector through the redesign of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.
He emphasized that the administration is working tirelessly to implement policies across various sectors to actualize the Renewed Hope Agenda and create a better Nigeria for all.
Specifically, in the steel sector, Audu stated that the ongoing reforms aim to revive steel plants, create over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, and attract Foreign Direct Investments to grow and diversify the economy.
He urged Nigerians to have faith in the government’s efforts and assured them that their expectations of good governance will be met before 2027.
This appeal comes as the hunger protests entered their second day, with the Nigeria Police Force reporting that several persons died in bloody clashes in some states on Thursday.
