PROTEST: Tinubu Orders 50kg Rice To Sell For N40,000

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the distribution of an additional 10 trucks of 50kg rice to each state, to be sold at designated centers at a subsidized price of N40,000.

This move is aimed at addressing poverty and the high cost of living in the country.

According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) believes that most of the demands made by organizers of the planned August 1 national protest are being addressed by the government.

Therefore, the FEC sees no need for the protest to go ahead.

President Bola Tinubu has also stated that he is already addressing the grievances of the youth, and thus, there is no need for them to protest.

The government has taken steps to make food available, including the distribution of rice at a subsidized price.

The Minister emphasized that this is an interim measure, as the government is investing heavily in the agricultural sector, which is expected to lead to a reduction in food prices.

Additionally, the government has begun disbursing student loans to over two million students and is working to provide employment opportunities for three million youths through the MTT program.

The government is also implementing the CNG initiative, which aims to reduce transportation costs by 60% by transitioning from fossil fuel to renewables.

The Minister appealed to those planning to protest to reconsider, as the government is addressing their demands and there is a risk of the protest being hijacked by unscrupulous elements.

In summary, the Federal Government is taking steps to address the high cost of living, poverty, and other grievances, and thus, sees no need for the planned protest.

Instead, the government is appealing to Nigerians to give them a chance to implement their plans and policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
