We Don’t Know What Nigerian Youths Are Protesting For – Governor Hope Uzodimma Wonders
- The Progressives Governors Forum, led by its Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has urged Nigerians to cancel the planned nationwide protest against the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, scheduled for August 1-10.
The forum, which comprises governors from the All Progressive Congress, aims to promote policy suggestions and harmonize their activities with the federal government’s policies to achieve a socio-democratic state.
After a closed-door meeting with fellow governors in Abuja, Governor Uzodimma made the appeal, stating that any form of demonstration at this time would be unwise.
He expressed concerns that some individuals or groups are instigating protests without clear goals, adding that the country faces numerous challenges, including insecurity, national minimum wage, food security, and economic recession.
Governor Uzodimma advised young Nigerians not to be instigated into causing chaos, emphasizing that the country has already suffered significantly from global economic recession, insecurity, political tension, and social media attacks on government policies.
He encouraged citizens to take ownership of the country and work towards its unity and prosperity.
The Progressives Governors Forum invited protest organizers to engage in discussions to identify issues and find solutions. Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu and his policies, including economic reforms.
He also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government, assuring that efforts are underway to alleviate economic hardship.
