The Labour Party in Ebonyi State Chapter has expressed confidence in its presidential candidate from the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, stating that he’s the only Nigerian that has the capability to revive the Nigerian economy. The party has called on Nigerians to support their efforts to gain power and progress the nation.
Following an expanded stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki, the party asserted that the country’s economy could be revitalized under their governance.
A communiqué issued after the meeting, signed by Rt. Hon. Linus Okorie of Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh of Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, and Rt. Hon. Bar. Emmanuel Nwobo of Central Senatorial Zone, detailed the discussions and resolutions made during the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to brief members on the future political activities of the Labour Party, which include mobilizing new members and facilitating registrations.
The members of the National Transition Committee (NTC) of the Labour Party, including Chief Fidelis Nwankwo, Rt. Hon. Linus Okorie, and Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, led the briefing.
They also provided insights from the 2023 post-election reviews conducted by the party’s National and State Working Committees.
Key resolutions from the meeting included:
1. Mr. Peter Obi remains the National Leader of the Labour Party, recognized for his competence in addressing the nation’s economic challenges.
2. Stakeholders expressed the need to support the National Transition Committee in conducting an inclusive State Congress and National Convention of the Labour Party.
3. The party urged its members to resolve internal conflicts for the greater good of the Labour Party and its mission to improve the lives of Nigerians.
4. The Ebonyi State Chapter aims to recruit and register 400,000 new members at designated times.
5. The stakeholders unanimously adopted Engr. (Chief) Fidelis Nwankwo as the Leader of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State, following a motion moved by Chief Jerry Obasi, the former Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2015 general election in Ebonyi State, and seconded by Hon. Sylvester Nwankwo, a former House of Assembly member in Ebonyi State.
