Don’t Give Your Pension To Churches And Mosques – Sanwo-Olu Warns Civil Servants

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has advised retirees against donating their pension funds to churches or mosques for thanksgiving or tithes.

He emphasized that retirees should instead use their pensions to address their own family needs.

This caution was given during the 105th batch retirement bond certificate presentation ceremony held for retirees in the state.

The governor highlighted that the payment of pensions underscores the Lagos State government’s unwavering commitment to its retirees.

Sanwo-Olu remarked, “This is not meant to solve all family problems. It is about you, what you have earned and worked for.

When they say they want to build a church or mosque and ask you to come out to pledge N3 million, don’t do that. God will give you the wisdom to act; Sanwo-Olu has done his part.”

He also noted the significance of the ceremony, marking the 105th Retirement Bond Certificate presentation and a transition to a new era of pension administration known as ‘Pay-As-You-Go.’

He explained, “From now on, all retirees of the state government will be paid as they retire, provided all procedures and approvals have been completed before retirement.”
