Bandits have killed a lecturer from the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.
Dr. Tiri Gyan David, who served as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university, was killed during a fresh attack by bandits early on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 1:30 am at Dr. David’s residence located in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
An eyewitness informed Channels Television via a telephone call that the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community and fired sporadically to frighten the residents. During the attack, the bandits also abducted two of Dr. David’s children.
Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the command would soon issue a detailed statement regarding the attack.
Dutsinma is one of the ten security frontline local government areas in Katsina State that frequently experience bandit attacks, despite ongoing efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace in the region.
