I Will Unseat You In 2027, You Won’t Return To Senate, Wike Vows, Dares Labour Party’s Ireti Kingibe

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing the FCT, will not return to the Senate in 2027. This statement was in response to Kingibe’s criticism of Wike’s performance, where she claimed that residents of the FCT were not satisfied with his work.

Kingibe, speaking on Arise TV, argued that Wike is disconnected from the needs of FCT residents, highlighting issues such as the lack of schools, hospitals, and clean water in the area.

In his defense, Wike stated that he is not in office to satisfy Kingibe and asserted that he has made significant progress in his short tenure. During the inauguration of the Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja, he expressed confidence that Kingibe would lose the support of FCT residents in the 2027 elections.

Wike criticized Kingibe for not collaborating with the FCT Administration and accused her of being upset because residents were praising President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He mentioned that both he and the Minister of State have been in office for less than a year and have already made notable achievements.

Addressing Kingibe’s claims, Wike questioned her contributions as a legislator, particularly regarding the sponsorship of bills to improve the education and health sectors. He challenged her popularity and predicted her defeat in the 2027 elections, emphasizing his current role as the FCT Minister and his commitment to the territory.

Wike concluded by stating that they are not seeking anyone’s approval or friendship, noting that they already have many supporters. He suggested that if Kingibe is troubled by the praise the administration is receiving, it will only intensify in the future, potentially causing her further distress.
