Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has pledged to do whatever it takes to ensure the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the upcoming governorship election on September 21.
Oshiomhole made this statement while inaugurating the APC Campaign Council for the election over the weekend.
He emphasized his commitment to the party’s success, even going so far as to say he would be willing to take on the humble role of a sweeper if it meant ensuring Okpebholo’s win.
Oshiomhole urged residents of Edo State, including those affected by flooding and whose children are forced to sit on bare floors in schools, to join forces and work towards the APC’s victory.
He emphasized that every member and supporter of the party has a crucial role to play in achieving this goal, regardless of their title or position. He stressed that every member is a canvasser and must work hard to win their unit, ward, local government, and state.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Director General of the APC Campaign Council, also spoke at the event, urging aggrieved members to put aside their differences and unite behind the party’s candidate.
He emphasized the importance of de-emphasizing the role of money in the campaign and instead focusing on the party’s message and values.
The upcoming governorship election on September 21 will see the APC’s Senator Monday Okpebholo face off against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo and the Labour Party’s candidate Olumide Akpata, among others.
