Nigeria’s Democracy Must Benefit Everybody, APGA National Chairman Ezeokenwa Says In Democracy Day Message

As Nigeria commemorates a significant milestone, 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, the longest in its history, the country reflects on its progress, resilience, and steadfast commitment to democratic principles.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has highlighted the urgent need to deepen economic and social interventions that prioritize the welfare and prosperity of all citizens.

In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Dr. Tony Olisa Mbeki, and made available to Newday Reporters, Barrister Ezeokenwa emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to enhancing the economic and social aspects of democracy in Nigeria.

He stressed the necessity of creating a society where economic opportunities are accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or affiliation. This inclusive approach, he noted, is essential for fostering a more equitable environment conducive to sustainable growth and development.

Barrister Ezeokenwa also underscored the importance of bolstering social democracy by advocating for policies and initiatives that promote social justice, equality, and the well-being of all Nigerians.

He highlighted APGA’s commitment to ensuring that the principles of democracy translate into ‘tangible benefits for everyone”, particularly in critical areas such as healthcare, education, and social welfare.

Moreover, the APGA National Chairman called on the Federal Government to introduce a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. He urged both federal and state governments to implement social intervention schemes aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians who are enduring severe hardships.

Additionally, he advocated for true federalism and the promotion of a democratic culture within the political landscape.

Reaffirming APGA’s unwavering commitment to advancing economic and social democracy in Nigeria, Barrister Ezeokenwa portrayed the party as a beacon of hope for progress and inclusive governance.

He called on all stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society organizations, and citizens, to work together to foster a society where democratic ideals are realized through concrete actions that enhance the lives of all Nigerians.
