Finally, Anambra To Conduct Local Government Elections For The First Time Since 2014 As Governor Soludo signs Anambra State Electoral Bill, 10 Others into Law

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is poised to conduct Anambra’s first local government elections in over 10 years.

This milestone became achievable after he signed the Anambra State Electoral Law 2024 into law.

With this legislation now in effect, the state is set to hold its first local government elections in more than a decade.

Governor Soludo had committed to organizing local government elections within his first two years in office. Having recently marked his second year in office this past March, he has fulfilled this promise by enacting the Anambra Electoral Law, thereby paving the way for the elections.

Additionally, the governor signed several other significant bills into law, as reported by Anambra State New Media. Among these are the Anambra State Touting Prohibition Law 2024, which outlaws the activities of “Agberos” (street touts) in the state, and the Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law 2024, which bans cultism and related activities in Anambra.

6- Anambra State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (ANSOGPADEC) Law, 2024.

7- Market Safety and Protection Law, 2024.

8- Trafficking in Person Prohibition Law, 2024.

9- Anambra State Private Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery Law, 2024.

10- Law to Amend the Anambra State House of Assembly Service Commission Law 2021 and for other Connected Purposes.

11- Anambra State Revenue Administration (Consolidand Harmonization) Law, 2024.
