JUST IN: Governor Alex Otti Suspends Health Commissioner For Alleged Misconduct

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the suspension of the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo.

This decision, announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, is intended to facilitate an investigation into allegations of gross misconduct against Dr. Okoronkwo.

The statement emphasized that Governor Otti’s decision reflects his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for any form of misconduct and its commitment to transparency and accountability.

These principles are fundamental to ensuring that the actions of government appointees consistently promote the welfare and interests of the citizens of Abia State.

The statement read: “The Abia State Government is dedicated to good governance and the rule of law, which upholds the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Therefore, the administration conducts thorough investigations to verify facts of any infractions or misconduct identified by its internal monitoring and feedback mechanisms.

“In view of these circumstances, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeyinwa Kalu, in collaboration with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Azodo, will manage the Ministry’s affairs temporarily.

This arrangement will remain in place until the investigation into the allegations against Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo is concluded.”
