The aviation unions in Nigeria have announced their participation in the indefinite strike declared by organized labor.
Following an emergency meeting held on Sunday, the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) jointly declared the withdrawal of services across all airports in the country, effective from 12:00 am on Monday, June 3.
This directive, in compliance with the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, affects aviation service providers, airline operators, aviation businesses, and all aviation workers nationwide.
The unions emphasized the seriousness of the strike, urging full compliance from all branches and airport workers.
International flights to Nigeria already airborne will not be immediately affected, with the strike action set to commence at international terminals on June 4, 2024.
