BREAKING: Go After Those Enforcing Sit-at-Home In Southeast – Tinubu Orders Military

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the murder of five soldiers in Aba, Abia State, as well as individuals advocating for sit-at-home orders in the Southeast.

In a statement he personally signed on Saturday night, President Tinubu emphasized that no one should have the audacity to kill state agents under any circumstances.

Reacting to the killing of five soldiers in Aba on Thursday, May 30, allegedly by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), President Tinubu declared that the federal government would take stern action against those habitually attacking armed forces personnel.

In his statement, the President expressed deep sadness over the incident, noting it was the second such attack in two months, following a similar tragedy in Okuama, Delta State. He condemned these violent acts as barbaric and unacceptable, stressing that they should not be tolerated in Nigeria.

President Tinubu highlighted the critical role soldiers and police play in protecting citizens from aggressors and non-state actors. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by many in uniform, including those who have died or been mistreated while fulfilling their duties, and stated that they do not deserve such mindless attacks.

The President warned that the federal government would respond forcefully to those who habitually target armed forces members. He stated unequivocally that no one should kill state agents under any pretext. He reassured that the Nigerian government and armed forces have the capability to eliminate violent non-state actors threatening community safety.

Furthermore, President Tinubu urged security agencies to not only capture those behind the Aba attack but also to address those promoting sit-at-home orders, labeling their actions as treasonous. He cautioned against mistaking the security forces’ restraint for weakness.

While committing to building a peaceful society, President Tinubu warned that the government would act decisively when the lives of security personnel are threatened. He extended condolences to the families of the slain soldiers, their colleagues, and the armed forces leadership, and encouraged peacekeeping personnel to remain resolute despite the unfortunate incident in Aba.
