Your One Year In Office Is A Disaster — Deji Adeyanju Tells Tinubu

Social crusader, lawyer, and activist Deji Adeyanju has harshly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, calling it a total failure, disaster, and shame.

As Tinubu reaches his one-year mark on May 29, Adeyanju shared his views in an exclusive interview with the DAILY POST on Tuesday, condemning the APC-led government’s performance as grossly incompetent and clueless about governance.

Adeyanju stated, “One year in office of this government is a complete failure. Contrary to expectations before, during, and after the campaign, he has not assembled competent people. He has been a total disappointment, appointing one of the worst ministers of power in Nigeria’s history.

We’ve experienced unprecedented power cuts and outages, with some areas going weeks without electricity. The electricity rate hikes have been the highest since independence, occurring alongside multiple taxations following the senseless removal of the fuel subsidy.”

He continued, “We’ve seen the price of petrol skyrocket, causing immediate and severe inflation. The economic team is the worst since independence, with a Finance Minister who is clueless about economic dynamics and a CBN governor who seems to be guessing.

We’re spending billions to defend the naira, yet the currency remains worthless. This is a nation that borrows to pay its debts, spending billions while the currency still loses value. There’s nothing to celebrate or commend the president for.”

Adeyanju did acknowledge some efforts by the ministers of FCT and Interior, but he dismissed their work as insufficient. “We have seen some reforms in the Ministry of Interior and road refurbishments in the FCT, but refurbishment is not an achievement.

The idea that the president would commission a refurbished bridge is absurd. It’s indicative of the mediocrity and cronyism plaguing our government. There’s also a disturbing level of ethnic favoritism in appointments, which is justified by referencing past administrations.”

He lamented, “We’ve never been this low as a nation. We lack leadership at all levels, with governors celebrating minor refurbishments.

Furthermore, Nigeria currently lacks effective opposition leaders. With figures like Wike controlling PDP and the Labour Party’s internal accusations, there’s no credible opposition. Atiku’s repeated runs for office aren’t taken seriously.”

Adeyanju argued that only a political revolution could address the current vacuum in opposition leadership. “The opposition is incompetent, lacking the drive and firmness needed to challenge the ruling party. What we have are pretenders claiming to be opposition just to raise money during elections.”

He called for a people-driven political revolution to break free from the cycle of corrupt politicians. “Nigerians face recycled criminals in every election, choosing the lesser evil. This must change. Figures like Atiku and Peter Obi have been around power for decades, switching parties frequently. Nigerians must stop allowing themselves to be prey to these political prostitutes.”

Adeyanju concluded, “Nigerians must make a radical departure from these long-standing politicians to achieve good leadership and progress.”
