Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, has ascended the throne and is receiving royal salutations from his subjects.
Despite a court order that prohibits his reinstatement, which is being enforced by a joint security agency in Kano State, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II proceeded with traditional ceremonies.
He emerged from the inner palace to the outer palace, where Emirs customarily receive their subjects and hold court sessions.
He was greeted with enthusiasm by hundreds of supporters as he made a ceremonial ride on horseback.
Kano State’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, addressed the media, stating that their decision to reinstate Muhammadu Sanusi II is final and was carried out in a lawful manner.
He emphasized that the court order preventing Sanusi’s reinstatement was not officially delivered to them.
Furthermore, he noted that the reinstatement took place after working hours, implying that any subsequent court actions on the matter were too late to have any effect.
