Chief Sir Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, the Chairman and CEO of Stelconic Properties Limited, has urged Organized Labour to pursue negotiations rather than confrontations to address their needs.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful working environment in Anambra and suggested that any grievances should be brought to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for resolution through discussions.
Orjiakor highlighted that Governor Soludo is known for his willingness to listen and engage in dialogue.
In an interview with NewdayReporters on Tuesday, Chief Orjiakor responded to the threat of industrial action in Anambra by NLC President Joe Ajaero. He remarked, “Not everything requires fighting or violence.
“The NLC should strive to resolve issues peacefully with the government to preserve the harmonious working environment that has been established since the last administration.”
Chief Orjiakor pointed out that Governor Soludo has been diligent in paying salaries and pensions on time. He also noted the recent employment of over 3,000 new teachers as evidence of the governor’s positive performance.
While acknowledging that there might be areas of discontent, Orjiakor stressed that these should be addressed through dialogue at the negotiation table with the governor.
He expressed his belief that Governor Soludo is a receptive leader who will listen to the concerns of the NLC and work towards a mutually beneficial solution.
Orjiakor stated, “I am not a fan of constant confrontation. Not everything requires fighting, especially when we have a governor who is performing well and is not defaulting on salary payments.
“Ajaero should give the governor the benefit of the doubt and discuss their issues with him in a round table meeting.”
Chief Orjiakor further reiterated the importance of maintaining the positive working environment in Anambra through consultation and round table discussions, emphasizing that it is crucial for the NLC to adopt this approach.
