The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, has expressed the United Kingdom’s approval of President Bola Tinubu’s security strategies and reaffirmed the UK’s support for the Nigerian government, particularly in the areas of transparency and accountability in governance.
Speaking at a High-level Dialogue on Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda, themed “Nigeria’s Global Ambitions: From Hope to Reality,” held in Abuja, Dr. Montgomery praised Tinubu’s agenda for its focus on priorities and effective implementation.
He stated, “I’d like to use this opportunity to express the wholehearted support of my government for the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu. We commend his agenda for its prioritization and delivery focus. We acknowledge the significant efforts made to enhance transparency and accountability.”
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, while opening the forum, extended her gratitude to the participants, emphasizing that their attendance highlighted the importance of advancing Nigeria’s economic agenda under President Tinubu.
She noted that the forum, organized by the Office of the Vice President, underscores the critical role of international cooperation in achieving the ambitious goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, lauded the efforts of stakeholders, particularly Vice President Shettima, in convening the high-level forum to commemorate the first anniversary of the Tinubu Administration.
He emphasized that the event served both to reflect on the past year and to strategize for the next three years, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in realizing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Budget and National Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, remarked on the successes of President Tinubu’s first year in office despite the challenges, assuring that the administration is committed to renewing the hope of Nigerians.
He highlighted the significance of international cooperation, thanking Vice President Shettima for his presence and underscoring Nigeria’s appreciation for diplomatic and development partners.
Bagudu noted that international cooperation is integral to Nigeria’s constitution, development plans, and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, represented by Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, Mr. Dapo Oyewole, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to long-lasting partnerships with the global community.
Oyewole stated that President Tinubu’s foreign policy aims to cater to the interests of all Nigerians and ensure mutually beneficial relationships with other nations. He added that Nigeria would continue to unlock its economic potential.
Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, expressed satisfaction with the theme of the dialogue, “Leveraging International Cooperation to Enhance Trade, Investment, and Sustainable Development in Nigeria.”
He noted that the Bank of Industry has witnessed the transformative impact of strategic partnerships on economic growth and inclusive development under the Tinubu administration.
The event was also attended by Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia; Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kenedy Ohaneye; European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb.
Samuel Isopi; Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head of Central Delivery Unit, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman; Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission; and Acting Country Director of World Bank, Nigeria.
Additionally, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Fasua, among other senior officials, were present.
