The Labour Party (LP) has responded to the recent meeting between its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and several key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Sule Lamido.
According to LP, this meeting is part of a concerted effort to address and alleviate the suffering currently experienced by Nigerians.
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of LP, confirmed that the party supports these discussions, emphasizing that this gathering is just the first of many intended to develop strategies for improving the lives of Nigerians.
He indicated that additional meetings are planned in the lead-up to the 2027 general election.
Ifoh explained, “This was a meeting of individuals with similar views who recognize the urgent need for improved leadership in our country.
These leaders see that Nigerians are enduring significant hardships, are not receiving the benefits they expected, and that corruption remains rampant in high places while the nation’s resources are being poorly managed.
They believe that now is the time to unite and take decisive action to address the numerous challenges facing Nigeria today. Despite the current administration being in power for less than a year, the APC-led government appears to lack direction, contributing to the country’s worsening conditions.
This meeting marks the beginning of a series of planned discussions. There will be more interactions and gatherings with other stakeholders to collectively brainstorm on solutions to rescue the nation.
The Labour Party is fully aware of these initiatives and is committed to working diligently to achieve meaningful progress for Nigeria.”
