You Have No Respect For Tinubu, Stop Witch-hunting Wike – Senator Olaka Attacks Fubara Over Attempt To Probe Past Government

Senator Olaka Nwogu, a former federal lawmaker who represented the Rivers Southeast Senatorial district in the National Assembly, has criticized Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his decision to investigate previous administrations, particularly that of former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This move by Governor Fubara comes amid ongoing political tensions in the state, highlighted by his conflict with Minister Wike. On Monday, Fubara announced his intention to probe the activities of past governments, including Wike’s administration.

In response, Nwogu spoke in Port Harcourt, urging Fubara to refrain from what he described as a witch-hunt against Wike. He expressed disappointment that, despite President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to mediate the dispute between Fubara and Wike, the governor has chosen to escalate the situation by initiating an investigation into Wike’s administration.

Nwogu argued that Fubara’s decision to proceed with the probe demonstrates a lack of respect for the President’s intervention and undermines the attempts at reconciliation. He described the governor’s actions as a direct affront to the President.

“This is a direct insult to the President. By abandoning the eight-point agenda to pursue this investigation, it shows he has no respect for the President’s efforts at intervention.

“This unnecessary escalation only heightens tensions. As a governor, your performance will be judged by the infrastructure you provide, not by your conflicts with others. If you believe that attacking others will improve your record, let’s see the outcome.

“If you intend to investigate the past administration, what records will you rely on? The person setting up the investigative panel is also the one maintaining the records.

“Are the records to be presented selective or doctored? This entire situation is absurd and unjustifiable,” Nwogu stated.
