Governor Bago Secures N500 Billion Loan To Construct 1,000km Roads In Niger State

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State announced on Thursday that his administration has secured a N500 billion facility to construct 1,000 kilometers of roads across the state.

The governor made this disclosure during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 82-kilometer Minna-Bida dual carriageway at Kakapangi. He described the event as historic and a fulfillment of his promise to the people under his New Niger Agenda.

Governor Bago explained that the road construction project would include streetlights, interchanges, and underpasses at both ends of the dual-carriageway. He also stated that the ongoing projects in the state would create 3 million direct and indirect jobs.

He assured that 100% funding for the road project has been provided by the Islamic Development Bank and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

Governor Bago expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for sustaining the tax credit scheme, which led to the full financing of the reconstruction of several road projects in the state, including Minna-Kontagora, Bida-Zungeru, Lapai-Mokwa, and Minna-Suleja roads.

He emphasized the importance of job creation, stating that the projects initiated by his administration have the capacity to create three million direct and indirect jobs.

He urged contractors to patronize local suppliers to boost the local economy.

In his goodwill message, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, commended Governor Bago for his exemplary governance, describing him as a shining example of good governance.

Ganduje praised the governor for his proactive approach in tackling challenges and producing tangible results.

Earlier, the President, represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, applauded Governor Bago for embarking on unprecedented road projects in the state. He pledged continued support and partnership with the state government for the effective delivery of democracy dividends.
