In an official statement released by Dr. Tony Olisa Mbeki, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), heartfelt congratulations were extended to the organized labor union and all Nigerian workers on the occasion of International Workers Day.
Workers’ Day, also known as Labour Day or International Workers’ Day, is a significant celebration dedicated to honoring the workforce, recognizing and appreciating their contributions towards social and economic achievements.
Observed on May 1st in many countries, it serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of workers worldwide.
Barrister Ezeokenwa, in his message, expressed profound appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and commitment that Nigerian workers display day in and day out.
He highlighted the invaluable contributions they make towards the growth and development of the nation, acknowledging their pivotal role in Nigeria’s progress.
The APGA National Chairman also used the opportunity to urge the Federal Government to expedite the review of the national minimum wage to ensure that Nigerian workers receive a living wage.
He emphasized the need for measures to enhance the living conditions of workers in both the public and private sectors, stressing the importance of fair compensation and conducive working environments for all workers.
On this occasion of Workers’ Day, Barrister Ezeokenwa called for continued support and empowerment of workers, advocating for fair treatment, improved working conditions, and enhanced welfare packages for all workers across the country.
Ezeokenwa wished Nigerian workers a Happy Workers’ Day, reaffirming his respect for the labor force and emphasizing APGA’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of Nigerian workers.
