HAPPENING NOW: Court Halts Planned Increase In DStv, GOtv Subscription Prices

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order halting the proposed increase in subscription prices for DStv and GOtv packages by Multichoice Nigeria Limited.

Multichoice had announced last week that it would raise its subscription fees starting from May 1, 2024, citing a surge in the cost of business operations in Nigeria as the reason for the price hike.

According to the notice sent to subscribers and customers via email, signed by Multichoice CEO, John Ugbe, the new prices for DStv packages are as follows:

Premium package: N37,000 monthly (previously N29,500)

Compact+ bouquet: N25,000 (previously N19,800)

Compact bouquet: N15,700 (previously N12,500)

Confam package: N9,300 (previously N7,400)

DStv Yanga bouquet: N5,100 (previously N4,200)

Padi package: N3,600 (previously N2,950)

HDPVR Access package: N5,000 (previously N4,000)

For GOtv users, the new prices are:

Supa Plus package: N15,700 (previously N12,500)

Supa bouquet: N9,600 (previously N7,600)

GOtv Max subscription: N7,200 (previously N5,700)

Jolli package: N4,850 (previously N3,950)

Jinja package: N3,300 (previously N2,700)

Smallie package: N1,575 (previously N1,300)

This marks the third time in the past year that Multichoice has increased its subscription fees. However, the Federal High Court’s order has temporarily halted the latest price increment pending further legal proceedings.
