In a heart-wrenching incident in Onitsha, Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s swift intervention, alongside the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Honorable Ify Obinabo, has brought justice and hope to 11-year-old Happiness Nwafor. The young girl, hailing from Enugu State, was subjected to brutal abuse by her employer, self-proclaimed lawyer Adachukwu Chikelu-Okafor.

Reports reveal that Happiness endured unimaginable cruelty at the hands of her employer, leading to severe injuries that left her hospitalized. The situation escalated when Adachukwu callously abandoned the child, naked and injured, at a relative’s residence, attempting to evade accountability.

However, justice prevailed as Governor Soludo’s administration swiftly responded to the distressing situation. With the support of the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, the perpetrator was apprehended and is now facing investigation and prosecution.

In a remarkable display of solidarity and empathy, the government of Enugu State has joined forces with Anambra State to ensure Happiness’s well-being and future prospects. As a symbol of collective commitment to her recovery and education, Enugu State government has pledged to provide Happiness with a scholarship covering her academic journey from her current level to university.

This collaborative effort not only underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable members of society but also serves as a beacon of hope for victims of abuse everywhere. Governor Soludo’s administration, through decisive action and compassionate support, has reaffirmed its dedication to justice and the welfare of all citizens, ensuring that no child suffers in silence.
