INSECURITY: Governor Soludo Under Pressure As Cult Killings Claims 34 Lives In 3 Weeks In Awka

Henry Mbachu, the representative of Awka 1 state constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has expressed grave concern over the escalating violence in Awka.

He revealed that within the last three weeks, a staggering 34 people have lost their lives in cult-related clashes.

Mbachu emphasized that despite being the state capital, Awka is becoming increasingly unsafe due to the surge in cult activities.

He lamented the fact that even with the governor, deputy governor, speaker, and all members of the House of Assembly residing in Awka, along with top security officials such as the Police Commissioner, director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the situation has not improved.

Mbachu stressed the need for urgent action, stating that the continuous loss of lives is unacceptable. He called for a collective effort to address the root cause of the problem, as he believes the issue extends beyond mere cult killings.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Mbachu announced plans to convene a security summit, inviting all stakeholders in Awka to come together and devise a way forward to tackle the growing security challenges plaguing the city.
