FULL RESULTS: Aiyedatiwa Wins Ondo APC Ticket, Floors 15 Other Aspirants In A Controversial Primary

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has officially become the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming November 16 governorship election, following his victory in the party’s primaries.

Aiyedatiwa emerged as the nominee with a significant lead, securing a total of 48,569 votes. His closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, trailed behind with 15,343 votes, while Chief Olusola Oke came in third with 14,865 votes.

The Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, announced Aiyedatiwa’s victory.

Governor Ododo emphasized the competitive nature of the primaries, noting the intense contest that characterized the electoral process.

The primaries took place across the 18 council areas of Ondo State and saw active participation from party members and supporters.

With his nomination confirmed, Aiyedatiwa and the APC are now focusing on consolidating support and rallying behind their candidate in preparation for the November election.

Violence marred the exercise in Ifedore, according to the returning officer, Oliver Okpala, resulting in the cancellation of voting in all the wards in the area.

Before the party’s electoral officers announced the results from the 18 council areas, Governor Usman Ododo emphasized the importance of party unity, quoting the words of President Bola Tinubu.

He urged party members to see political contests as a family affair, emphasizing the need for unity regardless of the outcome.

“We must set aside our differences and unite behind our candidate. In our unity, we shall continue to find strength, and our victory lies in our solidarity as party men and women,” Governor Ododo stated.
