JUST IN: Alex Otti Bans Substandard Schools In Abia

The Abia State Ministry of Education, Umuahia, has issued a directive for schools in the state to commence the 2023/2024 third term academic session on Monday of next week.

In a statement signed by Mr. Ikechukwu Oriuwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, teachers in the state have been instructed to resume their duties promptly.

The Ministry emphasized that strict monitoring would be conducted to ensure effective teaching and learning.

Parents have been urged to ensure that their children and wards return to school as the new term begins.

However, the Ministry clarified that schools in the state that were previously sealed for failing to meet the standard requirements would remain closed and are not permitted to resume.

In November 2023, the Abia State Government sealed 197 private schools for failing to meet the required minimum standard.
