Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of Junior Pope, highlighting the fleeting nature of their recent hope.
Rollas initially shared news of Junior Pope’s signs of life, but sadly, despite efforts from two hospitals, Junior Pope could not be revived, and he passed away. The identification of Junior Pope’s body has been confirmed, but there are still three others yet to be found.
Emma Onyemeziem, the Delta State chairman of AGN, also confirmed the deposit of Junior Pope’s body in a morgue.
The incident occurred when Junior Pope and others were traveling by boat to a movie location, and their boat capsized in the Anam River in Anambra State. Divers later recovered Junior Pope’s body.
Peter Chinedu, one of the divers involved in the recovery, shared details of the tragic incident, indicating that they were en route to the movie location when the accident happened.
Another individual named David, who was present, mentioned that they were returning from a shooting location when the boat capsized.
Prior to the accident, Junior Pope had posted a video of himself and others on the boat, expressing concern over the lack of safety measures such as life jackets. The caption reflected his lamentation over the risks they take to entertain others.
