Former President Olusegun Obasanjo expressed his support for restructuring Nigeria during a book launch event in Enugu.
He emphasized the detrimental effects of wrong systems of administration on governance, highlighting the urgent need for reform.
Obasanjo stressed the importance of addressing structural defects inherited from colonial rule and involving grassroots participation in constitution making.
He underscored the challenges of constitutionalism, electoral reforms, leadership accountability, and social justice. Despite advocating for unity and progress, he cautioned against divisive strategies and called for effective checks and balances in democracy.
Regarding the book being launched, which originated from the National Political Reform Conference in 2005, Obasanjo viewed it as a timely solution to Nigeria’s current challenges.
The event was attended by prominent figures such as former presidential candidate Peter Obi, ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani, and former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, among others.
