Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has taken the decision to suspend commercial activities in the vicinity of Dosumu Street following a devastating fire incident that resulted in the collapse of four buildings.
Mrs. Bola Olumegbon Lawal, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Distress, made the announcement during a visit to assess the situation firsthand.
The closure aims to avert further loss of life and to ensure the maintenance of peace and order in the affected area.
Lawal emphasized the importance of allowing emergency responders unhindered access to carry out rescue operations effectively.
The fire, which broke out around noon on Tuesday, caused the collapse of two buildings, with efforts underway to contain the blaze as of the latest update at 5 p.m.
Affected markets include Dosumu, Nnamdi Azikwe, Moshalashi, Woro Pedro, Obanikoro Streets, as well as Ago Tawa, Idumagbo Avenue, Idumagbo, Ido – Oluwo, and Oju Olobun Streets.
