The National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his Supreme Court victory while using the opportunity to call for the introduction of Electronic Collation And Management Of Election Results.

Ezeokenwa said this in a statement made available to NewdayReporters on Thursday.

In his words, ” Earlier today, the Supreme Court delivered its judgment in the consolidated appeals filed by candidates of the Labour Party and People’s Democratic Party, challenging the electoral victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC. The court upheld President Tinubu’s electoral victory.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the President and Commander-in-Chief, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his victory. I encourage him to be magnanimous in victory and to bring the much-needed peace and harmony to the country, by running an inclusive government.

“I commend the Appellants in the Consolidated Appeals. Their efforts have deepened our election petition jurisprudence and helped clarify the position of the law on several previously unclear issues.

“In the same vein, I commend INEC for its overall conduct in the last election. I want to emphasize that we have always faced two major critical struggles in the conduct of previous elections in the country: accreditation of voters and collation/result management. While INEC has significantly improved the accreditation process through the innovative introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), there is still a lot of room for improvement in the collation/result management process.

“Let me seize this opportunity to reiterate my call on INEC to introduce a bill to the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act, 2022 by accommodating electronic collation and management of election results. As a political party, APGA has also advocated for these technological innovations during the last INEC quarterly consultative meeting with the Political Parties’ National Chairmen and stakeholders. This will undoubtedly enhance transparency and accountability in our election collation and results management system. The statement read.
