Anambra State Government Wades Into Crisis Rocking Onitsha Alluminum, Allied Dealers and Technicians Association of Nigeria (OAADA)

Anambra State Government says it will look into issues causing crisis in Onitsha Aluminum, Allied Dealers and Technicians Association in other to foster peace in the market.

Addressing some members of the Association led by their new Caretaker Committee, the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Ernest Ezeajughi commended the association for peacefully protesting to the government, stressed that the state government still recognizes Mr. Tochukwu Aniekee (Tomax) led Caretaker Committee it set up recently, pointing out that the Chairman remains, Mr Tochukwu Aniekee, Bro Ndibe Ikechukwu as Secretary, Chief Lazarus Ogbuali Assistant Secretary, Honourable Chigozie Nzeakor as treasurer Mr Ezeukwu Stanley as financial Secretary Mr Ndubuisi Igwe as PRO, Mr Onuora Ekpunobi, Members and Mr Emeka Anadu as Member also. Chief Exeajuaghi assured them that government will intervene immediately to restore peace and stability in the market.

He maintained that the government embargo placed on election of market leaders still stands and warned that anybody going against this, is violating the Governors order hence will not be recognized rather will be called upon for questioning.

Chief Ezeajughi urged the former Executive of the market and the Board of Trustees, BOT members alleged to be fermenting trouble to give peace a chance.

Some of the protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘We need Governor Chukwuma Soludo quick intervention in the market” “Tomax is our Authentic Chairman”, “We say no to illegal collection of levies”, “We don’t want touts in (OAADTA)” “BOT members leave us alone” among others.

Speaking to Journalists, the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Mr Ikechukwu Ndibe and Honourable chigozie Nzeakor recounted the ordeal the New Caretaker Committee have been passing through from the former executives and BOT members and expressed satisfaction that the state government has promised to wade into the crisis to restore normalcy in the market.

Others who spoke during the protest including, Engr Tochukwu Umeh, the vice chairman zone one, Mr Osondu Ogueji explained that the caretaker committee chairman,  Mr.Anike was taken to Zone 13, Ukpor with other executives which prompted their members to stage the protest to register their grievances to the state government, alleging that the former executives and BOT members were using thugs to harass and collect illegal levies accruing to government and the market, placing embargo to the association account, refusal to render account of their eight years stewardship, seizing of some documents belonging to the Association among others.

They called for quick intervention to restore lasting peace and stability in the market.
