Anambra State Government says election will soon be conducted to fill up positions left vacant for months now in Alor town calling for peace among the people.
The two positions in Alor People’s Convention, the vice president General and the secretary general are vacant as a result of disagreement between two major camps when Mr Ubabuike Emecheta were announced via harmonization Exercise as consensus Vice president and Secretary general hence the need to step the process down for final decision of the state government.
Government recommendations then gave Chris Okudo led camp to balance the positions and interest as the camp has produced the president General, treasurer and financial Secretary for fairness, equity and good conscience, NewdayReporters gathered.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government ,Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne while addressing some stakeholders from Alor who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Government house, Awka, restated government’s commitment towards ensuring lasting Peace and stability in all the communities in the state, stating that war does more harm than good hence the need for them to embrace peace.
On the remaining vacant positions, the commissioner assured them that the vice president and that of Secretary general positions will be filled soon as the two positions have been left vacant for seven months now.
Commissioner Nwabunwanne signed on behalf of the state government the election held on 12th February, 2023, at Saint Mary’s parish field, Alor, adjudged free and fair, and recommended Bonafide members of Alor people’s Convention in the person of Chief Emmanuel Ojukwu as President General, Sir Martins Okoye Asugo as Assistant Secretary General, Chief Ifeanyi Egwuonwu took the position of financial Secretary, the post of treasurer went to Chief Afam Nwaodu odenigbo, Mr Ifeanyi Ezika is provost One while Mr Osita Kide is provost Two.
The post of Public Relations Officer went to Nze Martins Udoagwa while Barr Ngozi udodi is the Legal Adviser.
The local government Boss Advised the two camps Chris Okudo, Honourable Bona Orakwue and Uzoma igbonwa to sheath their swords and Embrace peace in the community
In their separate reactions, the former SSA to Governor Willie Obiano, Honourable Ike Mouedu, Sir Osita Obiagwu and the former presidents general of Alor people’s Convention, Honourable Chris Okudo among other Stakeholders who spoke, pledged their unalloyed Support with their traditional ruler, Igwe Elibe Okonkwo to Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration and promised to continue to maintain Peace and Stability in their Alor town in Idemili South local government Area of the state.
In his Vote of thanks Chief Ben Udeze appreciated the Efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Commissioner Tony Collins Nwabunwanne for championing the cause of restoring peace and stability in all communities, praying God to bless them so immensely
