Anambra State state government has waded into Nimo Town Crisis urged igwe Maximus Oliobi, his cabinet and other Stakeholders to forgive and lift the Suspension on the three Executives, first, Second and third vice presidents General suspended for anomalies, for peace to reign in the town, NewdayReporters reports.
It was gathered that the Community for some time now,has been in lingering crisis over the suspension of the three elected executive of NTDU, Sale of Ana – Owa land otherwise known as Obodo Oma layout among other Social media challenges confronting the Community.
Addressing them the local government chieftaincy and Community Affairs Commissioner, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne Advised the President’s General to separate and pilot the affairs of the town Union separately from the culture and traditions of the town which is performed by Igwe Oliobi.
Commissioner maintained that Union leadership should treat their matters by themselves while they present and seek fatherly advise from the igwe.
He begged for pardon on behalf of the three suspended Executives and assured them that the issue of Ana Owe which happens to be the major cause of the leadership crisis rocking the the town,will be addressed Soon.
Commissioner Tony Collins Nwabunwanne of ministry of Local Government chieftaincy and Community Affairs who stood in for Governor Chukwuma Soludo made his feelings known to Ndi Nimo during reconciliatory meeting with Nimo Town Development Union at SSG Conference Center, Government House, Awka. NewdayReporters was present at the meeting.
He promised Ndi Nimo Enduring Peace, remarked that he has received series of petitions from Ndi Nimo and assured using the their constitution to reconcile them appealing to them to sheath their sword as war,war does no one any good and warned against using Social media to attack people.
In their separate reactions, one of the suspended second Vice President General Dr Val Oliobi recounted how suppression and of human and development Rights have become the order of the day in the town and called for Government intervention to avoid break down of law and order.
He argued with his suspended brothers that they were suspended for standing for the truth and speaking for land grabbing and not embezzlement as was alleged.
In their separate speeches, the president General of Nimo Town Development Union, Mr Ekenenna Okafor Omabu, the NTDU, legal Adviser, Chief Peter Afuba (SAN), Barrister Chucks Okonkwo and one of the youth leader, Mr Chigbo Aniedobe went down memory lane and recounted how the crises Started and called for Government intervention to end the lingering crises for peace to return in the Community.
Responding, the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Maximus Oliobi thanked the state government for it quick intervention on the crises and assured that He and his cabinet were fully in support of the reconciliatory process.
The monarch remarked that he wants enduring peace and Unity in Nimo Town for according to him, Development can not thrive with out peace and Unity.
The permanent Secretary of the Ministry Barrister Mrs Pauline Nwandu was among dignitaries that attended the meeting.
